God's Purpose In You Never Went Out
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
— Jeremiah 29:11
Somewhere between school and your first job, someone asks what you are doing with your life. Underneath that question a lot of us carry a quieter fear, that we already took a wrong turn and lost the good version of our story.
Here is the thing. We treat God's will like a script we have to read perfectly, and one wrong line means we are stuck on Plan B forever. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Look at what He calls them. Thoughts of peace. Not a trap you can fail out of.
A plan is a route. Purpose is something God dropped in you, and it does not switch off when you take a wrong exit. Paul was hunting down Christians when Jesus stopped him and said in Acts 26:16, "But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee." The purpose was already there while Paul was still getting it completely wrong.
God is far more interested in who you are becoming than in where you happen to be standing. You have met people like this. Same person in a packed room and in an empty one, because what is driving them is not the setting. That comes from being rooted in who they are in Christ, not from finally landing the right position.
So if you are in a course you did not want, or a job that feels like a detour, or a city you never planned to live in, none of that cancelled anything. The fire is still in you because God put it there, not because you kept your record clean. Ask the Holy Spirit what He wants to do through you this week, right where you already are. That might look like being the one person on your team who does not cut corners, or actually showing up for the friend who keeps texting you at midnight.
You are not on Plan C. You are carrying something God started, and He is not the type to walk away from His own work.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that Your thoughts toward me are peace and always have been. I am not on a backup plan, I am Yours. Holy Spirit, You are the one keeping this fire burning in me, not my track record. Show me one thing You want to do through me today, right where I already am. I am receiving that by faith. Amen
Amen
