You Cannot Give Love You Have Not Received
He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.
— Mark 4:21-22
You cannot pour out love you have not received. That is why so much witnessing feels forced and lands flat.
Jesus said in Mark 4:21, "Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?" A candle does not strain to shine. It just needs to not be covered.
The early believers had no platforms and no strategy documents. What they had was a real experience of being loved by Christ, and it spread fast because it was genuinely in them.
Jesus set the marker in John 13:35: "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." Not by argument. By love people can actually feel.
So start by letting Him love you. Sit with the fact that you are already accepted and already His, and let the Holy Spirit make that real instead of theoretical. Love that has filled you up spills without you organising it. Trying to squeeze love out of an empty heart is the whole reason people burn out.
The world is not short on information about God. It is short on people who have been loved by Him and cannot hide it. Stay uncovered today.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that You loved me first and poured Your love into me by Your Spirit. I am fully accepted in Christ and I have nothing to prove. Holy Spirit, make that love so real in me today that it spills onto someone else. I receive it by faith. Amen
