You Cannot Earn What Jesus Already Bought

Some of the most exhausted people in church are the ones trying hardest to please God. Meanwhile someone who walked in last month, knowing they had nothing to offer, seems lighter than everybody.

Paul watched the same thing happen and it broke his heart. Romans 10:3 says, "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God." Sincere effort, wrong object. Zeal aimed at your own record will never land you in God's.

Here is the thing about faith. It is not the strength of your believing that saves you, it is who your faith is resting on. People who knew they had no record to defend received the Gospel fast, because they were not protecting anything.

Ephesians 2:8-9 settles it: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." A gift stops being a gift the second you start paying it off.

So if God asked you today why you should be let in, the only answer that holds is Jesus. Not your attendance. Not your giving. The Holy Spirit is not asking you to hustle for what He already put in you, He is asking you to rest in it.

Let Jesus be the object of your faith today, not your performance. He is enough on your good weeks, and He is exactly as enough on the bad ones.
