Abraham Had Every Chance To Go Back

Real talk, most people do not go back to the old life in one big decision. It happens slowly, in the replay that runs at one in the morning when nobody is watching.

Hebrews 11:15 says, "And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned." Notice what it does not say. It never says the door back was locked. Abraham and Sarah could have turned around whenever they wanted. The opportunity was sitting there the whole journey.

What kept them was not willpower. It was where their attention lived. God had made them a promise and that promise had their eyes, so the old country stopped feeling like an option. Whatever holds your attention eventually holds your feet.

Practically this is small and unglamorous. The old number is still sitting in your phone and your thumb hovers over it at midnight. Or the job you walked away from starts looking safer than the thing God actually told you to build. That is the moment it gets decided, and in that moment you do not need more willpower. You need to hear again what God already said.

Here is the thing, you are not fighting your way into a new life. You are already in one, because Jesus finished that. God is not asking you to clench your teeth against the memory, He is asking you to look at what He has already handed you. The Holy Spirit living in you is the one who makes God's promise louder than the replay, and He does it without you straining for it.

Abraham had the opportunity to go back the entire time. He just had something better in front of him. So do you.
