Healing Is Not God Holding Out

Sickness makes you feel powerless fast. The question underneath it is usually not a medical one. It is whether God is actually for you in this.

He is. Look at how Jesus spent His time, then look at the book of Acts. Healing was never a rare favour handed to a select few, it was what He did wherever He went.

That provision did not get withdrawn. 1 Corinthians 12 lists gifts of healing among what the Spirit gives the church, and James 5:14-15 says, "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up." Notice you are told to call for people. This was never meant to be carried alone.

So how does that power get released? Galatians 3:5 says, "He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?" By the hearing of faith. Not by earning it with good behaviour. Faith grows the way it always has, by hearing what God said until it settles into you.

And this part matters just as much. If you have prayed and you are still sick, that is not a verdict on your faith, and God is not withholding something to teach you a lesson. Being unwell is never proof that you believed badly. Take your medicine, see your doctor, let people pray with you, and keep your heart soft toward Him through all of it.

Mark 9:23 says, "Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth." You do not manufacture that believing on your own. The Holy Spirit builds it in you as you keep hearing, and He is not standing over you with a stopwatch.
