Smart Is Not The Same As Wise

Being smart and being wise are two different things. You can top every exam and still make a mess of your actual life. The Bible traces real wisdom back to one starting point.

Proverbs 9:10 says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." Fear here is not terror. It is the settled honour you give Someone you know is far bigger than you and completely good.

Proverbs 8:13 says, "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate." Reverence is not just a feeling during a worship set. It quietly reshapes what you are willing to admire.

That is why brilliance and wisdom can live in completely different people. Psalm 14:1 says, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." That is not a comment about someone's intelligence, it is a comment about their starting point. And the evidence has never been hidden. Psalm 19:1 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork."

Here is the part people miss. You do not hustle for this wisdom by reading harder or thinking longer. God gave you His own Spirit, and He is the One who turns His Word into understanding inside you instead of information. Ask Him for that today.

Reverence is not a mood you work up on purpose. It is what happens naturally when you see Him clearly, and everything wise in your life grows out of that one root.
