Sickness Was Never God's Idea

When something goes badly wrong, the question underneath everything else is usually whether God did it. People rarely ask it out loud.

Go back to the start. Genesis 1:31 says, "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Read the account and see if you can find sickness in it anywhere. It is not there, because He did not make it.

It came in later, through what happened in the garden. Authority that belonged to people got handed over, and 2 Corinthians 4:4 goes as far as calling the devil "the god of this world." Not because God lost control, but because Adam gave something away.

So the two jobs are set out plainly. John 10:10 says, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Nothing in that verse is ambiguous about who does what.

This changes how you pray in a hospital corridor. You are not trying to talk a reluctant God into helping, and you are not searching your life for the lesson He must be teaching you through this. He is not the source of it. The Holy Spirit in you is on the side of your life, and you can ask Him for it plainly.

God has no sickness to hand out. He only ever had life, and He gave it away through His Son.
