Knowing About God Is Not Knowing Him
Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
— John 3:10
You can know a great deal about God and still not know Him. Nicodemus proves it. He was a teacher of Israel, top of his field, and he came to Jesus at night with a question his own books could not answer.
Jesus did not hand him more information. John 3:3 says, "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Born again, not better informed. That is a completely different category.
This is what separates following Jesus from religion. Religion hands you a system to keep. Jesus hands you His own life and moves in.
And you did not build any of that. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." It happened to you, done by Him, the moment you believed.
So stop trying to feel your way into closeness with God, because He is already your Father. The Holy Spirit lives in you right now and He is the One who makes that relationship feel like a relationship. Talk to Him today like He is actually in the room, because He is.
And if you have never done this, it is not complicated. Ask Jesus to come in and give you His life. He has been waiting on that a lot longer than you have.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that You gave me brand new life through Jesus, not through anything I earned. I am a new creation and You are genuinely my Father. Holy Spirit, make this relationship real to me today instead of just information I know. I walk in it by faith. Amen
