The Miracle Hides In Boring Instructions
Whatever He says to you, do it.
— John 2:5
We keep missing the supernatural because we are scanning for the spectacular. God says something small and ordinary, it sounds like nothing, and we move on still looking for a burning bush.
John 2:5 says, "His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it." Two verses later comes the instruction, "Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast." Nobody at that wedding was asking for water. The instruction made no sense until it did.
Peter had the same moment. Luke 5:5 says, "Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net." He had worked the whole night and knew that water better than a carpenter did. He let the net down anyway, and the catch nearly broke the boat.
In 2 Kings 4 a widow was drowning in debt and told Elisha, "Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil." He did not pray down fire. He told her to go borrow empty jars from the neighbours. The oil kept flowing until the last jar was full, and it stopped the moment the obedience stopped.
None of these people produced the miracle. The power was always His, the instruction just gave Him something in their hands to work with. So when the Spirit nudges you to text the person you have been avoiding for three weeks, that is not small. When it is the sense that you should apply for the role you feel underqualified for, that is not small either. You are not trying to impress God into moving. He already moved, and He is telling you where to stand.
Simple obedience is not how you earn the outcome. It is how your hands end up inside what God is already doing. Whatever He says to you, do it.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that the power belongs to You and I have never had to produce a single miracle. I am Your child and Your Spirit lives in me. Holy Spirit, make me quick to catch Your voice when the instruction sounds too ordinary to matter. Give me the nerve to do the small thing You are asking today. I am doing it in faith, not to earn anything. Amen
Amen
