God Asked If The Bones Could Live

Most of us have one area we have quietly stopped praying about. Not out of rebellion. We just decided it was over and moved on.

God put Ezekiel down in the middle of a valley full of bones and made him walk through it first. Not a fresh grave. Bones, dried out, scattered, long past anybody's hope.

Then He asked the question. Ezekiel 37:3 says, "And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest." That answer is worth copying. Not yes, not obviously not. You know.

Ezekiel did not pretend the bones looked promising. He also did not close the door. He handed the verdict back to the only one entitled to give it.

That is a real option for the thing you have written off. The friendship that went cold, the health report, the version of your family you stopped imagining. You do not have to talk yourself into optimism about it. You just stop being the one who declares it finished, and let the Holy Spirit put hope back in you, which is His work and not yours to force.

By the end of that chapter the valley is standing up as an army. It looked completely finished right up until it was not.
