Faith Lives In Your Heart, Not Your Head
Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
— Mark 11:23-24
You know the verses about faith. You agree with them. And still, when the pressure hits, something in you does not actually believe it, and that gap is confusing.
Jesus located faith somewhere specific. Mark 11:23-24 says, "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Not doubt in his heart. He did not say head.
Romans 10:10 says the same thing, "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." That is why agreeing mentally never seems to move anything. Information sits in the head. Faith sits deeper than that.
So how does anything get down there? Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Faith comes. You do not manufacture it, you receive it, and it arrives through hearing God say something to you again and again.
Here is the part that takes the pressure off. Hebrews 12:2 tells you to be "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith." He started it in you and He is the One completing it. The Holy Spirit takes what you hear and makes it real in your heart, so your part is to stay under the sound of His Word instead of straining.
Real talk, you are probably not short on faith. You may just be short on hearing. Give God's voice more airtime this week and watch what starts moving in your heart before it ever moves in your circumstances.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that Jesus is the author and finisher of my faith. I already believe from the heart because You put that there. Holy Spirit, take what I hear from Your Word today and settle it deep in me. Give me ears for Your voice above the noise. I receive this by faith. Amen
