Jesus Fed Four Thousand Starting With Almost Nothing

You do not have enough. Whether that is money or hours in the day, the gap is real, and pretending it is not there has never once closed it.

The disciples were standing in front of four thousand hungry people with seven loaves. Mark 8:6 says, "And he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them." Before anything multiplied, Jesus thanked God for what was already in His hands. Seven loaves for four thousand people is not much to be grateful for, and He was grateful anyway.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." This is not positive thinking with a verse attached. Thanksgiving is how faith gets its hands on what God has already provided.

Then Jesus used what He had instead of waiting for a better supply. The widow in Luke 21:2 dropped in two mites, and Jesus said, "this poor widow hath cast in more than they all." Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." What you say over the little you have matters more than the size of it.

Real talk, this gets small and specific fast. There is eleven thousand in your account and rent is due next week. Instead of opening the banking app again to stare at the number, thank God for the eleven thousand and give something out of it. You are not bribing God into multiplying it. Ephesians 3:20 says He "is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." That power is already working in you. You are just giving it something to work with.

Jesus did not create bread out of thin air that day. He blessed what was already in His hand, and it fed four thousand people with baskets left over.
