You Are Alive, Drop The Graveclothes
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
— Colossians 3:2
Some days feel heavy for no reason you can point to. Nothing actually went wrong. You just wake up already tired of yourself.
Lazarus knows something about that. John 11:44 says, "And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go." He was alive. Fully, actually alive. And he was still wrapped in cloth from a grave he had already walked out of.
That is a lot of believers. The life is not the problem, it is already yours. The wrapping is the problem. Old thinking patterns, the way you talk about yourself, the reflex of expecting the worst. None of that is your identity anymore. It is fabric from a tomb you already left.
Here is the thing. Jesus did not raise Lazarus and then wrap him tighter. He said loose him. Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." That is not a demand to think positive by sheer effort. It is an invitation to look at what is already true about you instead of what is currently loud.
Philippians 4:8 hands you the actual filter, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." You cannot delete a thought by fighting it, you replace it. When you open Instagram and your life suddenly feels small, say out loud what God has said about your future. When your manager goes quiet on a message and you are already drafting your resignation in your head, name what is actually true instead of what you are imagining. The Holy Spirit does the loosing. You just stop re-wrapping yourself.
Where you set your focus is not going to change your standing with God. It changes what you get to experience of it. The grave already lost. You are just taking the cloth off.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that Jesus already brought me out of the grave with Him and my life is not up for debate. I am alive in Christ right now, even on the heavy days. Holy Spirit, You are the one who loosens what is still wrapped around my thinking. Show me one thought today that does not belong to me anymore. I am letting it go by faith in what Jesus already finished. Amen
Amen
