You Are Already One Spirit With God

Being one with God sounds like something reserved for people who pray for hours. It is actually a description of what already happened to you.

1 Corinthians 6:17 says, "But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit." One. Not near, not associated with, not on good terms with. Joined.

How does that happen to an ordinary person? Galatians 4:6 says, "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father." He did the joining. You did not qualify for it, you were given it.

Which means what is true of Him is now true of the deepest part of you. 1 John 4:17 says, "because as he is, so are we in this world." Not one day in heaven. In this world, in this body, this week.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." So when the panic rises about money or results or your health, you are not scraping around for strength you do not have. There is peace and life already in your spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to let you respond from there instead of from the panic, and give it a minute.

You are not trying to get close to God today. You are already joined to Him, and that is the part nothing this week can undo.
