Stop Asking For What You Already Have

You have prayed for peace, for strength, for God to finally show up. Here is the thing. Most of what you have been asking for was handed over the day you were born again.

Ephesians 1:3 says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ." Hath blessed. Past tense, all of them, already done.

2 Peter 1:3 says it the same way, "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to the glory and virtue." All things that pertain to life. That is not a short list.

So why does it not feel like it? Not because God held anything back. Romans 6:10-11 says, "For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." Reckon means count it as true. It is an accounting word, not a feelings word.

You are not switching God on. You are agreeing with what He already did. The Holy Spirit takes that agreement and works it out into your actual life, which is a far better arrangement than running on your own energy.

Try changing the prayer. Instead of asking God to give you peace, thank Him that His peace is already in you. Same God, except now you are receiving instead of hustling for something you already own.
