Prosperity Is Bigger Than Your Bank Balance

Ask most people what a prosperous life looks like and they will describe money. It is a strangely small answer for such a big question.

3 John 2 says, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." Read the order in that. The soul first, then the rest of it. God is not indifferent to your bank balance, He just refuses to start there.

It is worth being honest about why. Money does not fix a mind that will not settle at night. A better phone does not repair a relationship that has gone cold. Plenty of people have the thing they were chasing and are no better off inside.

So prosperity in the Bible is wider than we usually make it. Your spirit, your thinking, your body, your emotions, the people around you. Money is one item on that list and not the first one.

Luke 6:38 says, "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over." That is not a scheme for getting rich, and treating it like one turns generosity into a transaction. Giving works because you are already rich in Christ and are letting something out, not because you are trying to make God pay up. The Holy Spirit grows all of this in you, and He tends to start in the places nobody else can see.

You are not waiting to become rich. You are learning to notice where you already are, and letting Him fill in the rest.
