His Body Was Broken So Yours Heals
Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
— 1 Peter 2:24
When everything broke in Eden, sin and sickness and death came in with it. God did not scramble to react. He already had a plan, and the plan had a body.
Isaiah wrote it down roughly seven hundred years before it happened. Isaiah 53:3-5 says, "He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed." Borne and carried, written in past tense, centuries before the cross ever happened.
2 Corinthians 5:21 says, "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." Read that trade again. He took what was yours so you could have what is His. Not a loan. A swap.
John the Baptist saw Him coming and said in John 1:29, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" If the blood dealt with sin, why was He also beaten? Because redemption covered more than your record. 1 Peter 2:24 says, "Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness, by whose stripes you were healed." The stripes were a separate payment for a separate thing.
Hebrews 10:12 says, "But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God." He sat down because there was nothing left to pay. So when you blow it on a Tuesday, you do not have to wait until Sunday to feel clean enough to pray. When the test results come back and your first thought is that God is punishing you, that thought does not survive Isaiah 53. You are receiving something already bought, not applying for it.
You are not asking Jesus to do something for you today. Ask the Holy Spirit to make what He already did as real to you as your own name. His body was broken. Yours does not have to stay that way.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for taking my sin and my sickness into Your own body. I am not asking You to do it again, it is finished. Holy Spirit, make this real to me today in the place where I feel it least. I receive the healing and the righteousness He already paid for. I stand in this by faith. Amen
