Give And It Comes Back Bigger
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
— Luke 6:38
Most of us give with a quiet fear that we are about to have less. That is the real hesitation. It feels like subtraction.
Luke 6:38 says, "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." That is not a fundraising line. It is a law God built into how things work, the same way a seed in soil is not a loss.
Galatians 6:7 says, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Then 2 Corinthians 9:6 adds the measurement, "He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully." The amount is not the point. The proportion is.
So what about the seed you already sowed that you are not proud of? This is where grace flips the whole script. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Forgiveness does not only clear your record with God, it cancels the harvest you were dreading. You are not stuck reaping a season you already brought to Him.
God is your source, and He rarely drops money out of the sky. He moves through people, which should change how you pray. Pray for the client who has not replied and for the manager sitting on your appraisal, not just for the number you need. When you cover a friend's meal or send money home without turning it into a story, that is seed going into soil.
Galatians 6:9 says, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Due season means there is a gap between the planting and the harvest. The gap is not evidence that you got it wrong. It is just how growing works.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that You gave me Your Son before I ever gave You anything. I am not buying Your favour, I already have it. Holy Spirit, show me who to sow into this week and make me quick to move when You do. Keep fear off my heart while I wait for the harvest. I am giving in faith, not in anxiety. Amen
Amen
