You Do Not Need The Full Map
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
— Proverbs 3:5
You want the whole plan before you take the next step. God usually gives the step. That is not Him being cagey, it is how trust actually works.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Lean not on your own understanding. That is not a ban on thinking, it is a warning against making your limited view the final authority.
The reason you can trust Him is His posture toward you. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Thoughts of peace. He is not neutral about your future.
If you are in something hard right now, that is not evidence He changed His mind about you. Isaiah 41:10 says, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Every promise in that verse is Him doing something, not you.
So trust is not working up confidence you do not feel. It is leaning on what He already said about Himself. The Holy Spirit lives in you to direct those paths, and He does it one step at a time so you stay close instead of running ahead.
You may not get the full map today. You do get the One who drew it, walking beside you and holding you up. That is enough for the next step.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that Your thoughts toward me are peace and Your plan is already good. I am held by You, not by my own understanding. Holy Spirit, direct my next step and give me peace about the rest. Help me trust You where I cannot see. I rest in that by faith. Amen
Amen
