Holiness Is Fruit, Never The Root
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
— Matthew 24:13
Holiness never bought you a relationship with God, and slipping never cancelled one. But holiness does protect something, and most believers are never told what.
It guards your confidence. Sin does not change how God feels about you, it hands the enemy an opening to accuse you until you stop believing what is already yours.
1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Confession is not you begging God to feel differently about you. Forgiveness is already sitting in your born again spirit, and confession lets it come out into your daily life.
1 John 1:7 says, "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." Walking in the light is not performing for an audience. It is refusing to keep anything hidden from the One who already knows.
Here is the thing. Holiness is the fruit of your relationship with God, never the root of it. You were made new, so living clean is your actual nature now. This is the Holy Spirit expressing who you already are, not you fighting to become someone else.
When you really see what you have in Christ, holiness stops feeling like a rulebook. It starts feeling like coming home to yourself.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that Jesus made me new and Your forgiveness is already mine. I am righteous in Christ and that is my real nature now. Holy Spirit, keep me walking in the light with nothing hidden today. I stand in that by faith, not by effort. Amen
