Faith Is A Muscle, Not A Wand

Some people carry an easy confidence in God and you wonder what they know that you do not. There is no secret formula. They simply believe they are loved, and everything else grows out of that.

Mark 11:24 says, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Believing comes before seeing. That order feels backwards until you realise God already said yes in Christ, so faith is receiving rather than convincing Him.

Here is the thing, faith is not a wand you wave to make life obey you. It works more like a muscle. It grows as you use it, and it grows on what God actually said, not on how hard you can concentrate.

And if something you have prayed for has not come yet, that is not a verdict on your faith. Being sick, broke or stuck is not God marking your report card, and it is not Him teaching you through pain. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." He works good out of the mess, which is a very different thing from Him sending it.

So start where you actually are. Bring Him the small things, the ones you would normally handle alone and never mention. The Holy Spirit is the One building this confidence in you, and He is in no hurry.

It was never about how much faith you can generate. It is about who you are putting the little you have into. He has got you, and He is not going anywhere.
