Jesus Already Said It Is Finished
It is finished.
— John 19:30
The last thing Jesus said before He died was not a complaint. John 19:30 says, "It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
That was not relief that the pain was over. It was an announcement that the work was done, which means there is nothing left on your side to add to it.
So the fight is not to become free. 1 Peter 2:24 says "by whose stripes ye were healed," and Ephesians 2:6 says God "hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus." Seated. That is not the posture of someone still trying to win something.
There is another finishing in the Bible and it goes the other way. James 1:15 says "sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." Not a lightning bolt. The slow wearing down that a habit does to a person over years.
Two finished works, and you are living out of one of them today. Knowing you are free and living free are not the same thing, and the gap between them does not close by trying harder. It closes as the Holy Spirit makes what Jesus did more real to you than the pull of the old thing.
You are not asking God for something He is deciding about. He already said it is finished, and He was not exaggerating.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that Jesus finished it and left nothing on my side to complete. I am not fighting for freedom, I am already free and seated with Him. Holy Spirit, let me live out of what is finished rather than out of what I am afraid of. Make that real in one part of my life today. I receive it as done. Amen
Amen
