Those Healing Stories Were Written For You
He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
— Psalm 107:20
When something is actually wrong with your body, encouragement stops helping. You want to know whether God still does anything about it.
Psalm 107:20 says, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." Notice the method. He sent His word. Not a feeling, not a special atmosphere. The word itself carried the healing.
The Bible keeps naming actual people rather than making general promises. Naaman was a commander with leprosy who nearly walked away offended before he washed in the Jordan and came out clean. Hezekiah was told to put his house in order because he was dying, and God gave him fifteen more years. Neither of them was a spiritual professional.
Those accounts are not there as history you admire. They are there to tell you what kind of God you are dealing with, and He has not developed a different policy since.
1 John 4:17 says, "because as he is, so are we in this world." That is where faith gets its footing. Not in how positive you can stay, but in what is already true of you in Christ. So keep going to the doctor, keep taking what you are given, and keep putting the word in front of yourself, because the Holy Spirit is the one who grows real faith out of it. That is not you working something up.
He does not run out of these stories. He is not finished writing the one you are standing in.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that You sent Your word to heal and that it has not lost any of its power. I am not outside what You do, I am Your child and I am in Christ. Holy Spirit, make Your word louder in me than the report I am holding. Build faith in me for this one thing. I take You at Your word. Amen
Amen
