You Harvest Whatever You Have Been Planting
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
— Romans 8:6
Nobody plants apple seeds and stands around waiting for oranges. We accept that everywhere except in our own heads.
Romans 8:6 says, "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." That is not a rule God imposed on you. It is a description of how the thing works, like gravity.
So what you have been feeding on all week is going to show up eventually. Hours of things that leave you cynical and afraid do not produce peace at the end of the month, and that is not a character flaw, it is a harvest.
Jesus said in John 6:63, "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." His words are not information about life. They carry it. That is the seed you actually want in the ground.
This is not a demand to think harder or better. Nobody grows a crop by straining at it. You put the seed in and the growing happens without you, and the Holy Spirit is the one doing that part in you. Your job is mostly deciding what goes in.
What you are feeling this week is telling you what got planted last month. So plant something worth harvesting.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that Your words carry life and You have given them to me freely. I am not stuck with what I am feeling, I have Your Spirit in me. Holy Spirit, plant something true in me today and let it grow. Change what I am feeding on. I receive Your word as life. Amen
Amen
