Jesus Asked About Faith Not Headlines

It is easy to spend an evening reading everything and end up more afraid than when you started. Then you do it again the next night.

I have spent plenty of time in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 looking for signs of the times. Nothing happening now surprises me. We may be in the last days, or just the latest days so far, and either way it does not change what I have to do tomorrow.

Jesus actually said something about this. Matthew 24:6 says, "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." See that ye be not troubled. That is an instruction, not a suggestion, and He gave it about exactly this.

Then in Luke 18:8 He asks, "Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" Notice what He is looking for on His way back. Not people with the timeline worked out. Faith.

There is nothing wrong with being informed. It is worth asking honestly what it is producing in you. If a habit is leaving you anxious and further from God rather than steadier in Him, that is useful information about the habit. The Holy Spirit in you is not anxious about any of it, and He is the one you can go to when your chest is tight from reading.

The world will keep giving you things to decode. He is asking for something simpler than that from you, and He has already given you what it takes.
